Transmission Filter: Too often the transmission filter is confused in its performance with that of an oil filter. In most cars the filter resembles that of a bug screen to catch pieces of large particles or contaminants. It is not necessary to remove the filter (if the transmission even has one).

T-TEC Procedure:
We prefer the T-TEC procedure to change out transmission fluid, because it replaces 100% of the transmission's old, dirty fluid. This is important considering traditional ATF services drain little more than 30% of the old fluid from the transmission, leaving nearly 75% of the dirty fluid in the transmission to mix with the new. T-TEC connects through the transmission cooler lines and provides a clean, environmentally friendly, and systematic approach to servicing automatic transmissions. The unit will flush virtually all of the old transmission fluid and replace it with the new fluid while the engine is idling.

A Single Treatment:
Auto-Rx® easily dissolves transmission deposits compared to engine deposits, because the transmission is basically a sealed unit. The deposit formations are not complex, as in a motor. Motor deposits gain complexity due to combustion gases from blow-by and airborne contaminants ingested into the oil, such as dirt and moisture. Therefore, a single treatment is all that is needed.

The chemical formulation of Auto-Rx® is the same for engines, transmissions, motorcycles, and diesels. The only difference is in the individual applications.

Transmission Cleaning with Auto-Rx®

Unidentified Post on the Chrysler Forum: Doing some searching, I came across a product called Auto-Rx. After reading all the positive reviews at other automobile related websites, I decided to try it. Well, all I can say now is I will use this stuff on every car I ever have from now on, whether I buy it new and use it exactly on its first recommended fluid change or on future used cars. Some people may call it snake oil, but I don't care what anyone else says. The stuff is amazing. It's not an additive; it's a cleaner, and it doesn't change the viscosity of the fluid and it's very gentle. The transmission hasn't slipped a single time since I used it; plus it shifts much smoother. It's like a different van. ...READ MORE>>

After Auto-Rx® has done its powerful cleaning and restoring action, you will be amazed with your transmission's performance! Our product will restore your seals and so effectively remove contaminants that your transmission will be returned to like-new condition! Auto-Rx® can:
  • Prevent or delay costly transmission repairs.
  • Dramatically increase the life of your transmission.
  • Improve overall transmission performance.

Heat and Contaminants: A Transmission's Greatest Enemies

It is scientifically proven that every problem that occurs in a transmission (other than manufacturing defects) is caused by contamination— the same as in an engine. Contamination is the number one cause of transmission trouble! Why? Because it creates uneven hotspots. And the contamination process has already begun within the first 10,000 miles. Some symptoms of transmission failure include slippage and difficulty or inability to shift. That's why it's recommended that you clean your transmission at least every two years or after 25,000 miles.

Removing this contamination is critical to the life of your transmission. First, this contamination interferes with the operation of your transmission's valve body (which regulates shifting). Second, the internal seals dry out and become compressed. This compression creates pockets where the seals do not make contact, and it results in a loss of internal pressure.

Auto-Rx® is your solution. Auto-Rx® works as you drive. Contamination residue and build-up are liquefied and gradually removed by the transmission filter, cleaning the internal mechanism of your transmission. Select one of the links below that will have Auto-Rx® working for you in no time!

What to do with the Leftover Product?
After using the required dosing for your transmission, some Auto-Rx® product remains in the bottle. Suggestions for using this remainder include cleaning the power steering (2 ounces) or installing a maintenance dose (4 ounces) in your engine crankcase to get some measure of engine cleaning. NOTE: This is not for sludged engines.

Automatic Transmissions
Automatic transmissions are generally not properly serviced over a vehicle’s intended life. For this reason, transmissions get a bad rap as being the weak link in the drive train. Repairs are generally very costly, usually starting at over $2,000. Owner manuals put fluid exchange intervals as high as 80,000 miles, but a transmission repair shop will seldom recommend running the fluid for more than 30,000 miles. So who would you believe? If you have more than 30,000 miles on your vehicle, we highly recommend adding the prescribed dose of Auto-Rx® and driving 1,000 miles for ordinary driving conditions or 3,000 miles for harsh conditions (see Step 5 below) before a fluid change. This will ensure that deposits, gums, and varnishes come out with draining. Don’t put fresh fluid into a gummed-up system. A single treatment is all that is needed.

Harsh Conditions: On automatic transmissions that have been poorly maintained and have had severe duty (such as towing or carrying large payloads), gummed up deposits will be heavier than the normal passenger car under light duty. Therefore, it will take longer to clean up these deposits in the torque convertor and shifting module valves. However, in 99% of applications, adding 6 fluid ounces of Auto-Rx® and running 1,000 miles are all that is required to clean up an automatic transmission. Most shifting issues and overdrive chatter are resolved in 1,000 miles. After completing the runtime, you merely need to service the filter screen and/or magnet before purging out the old fluid with new. There is very little filtration on most transmissions, so there is no reason to run the dirty fluid any longer than necessary.

Instructions for Automatic Transmissions
To get the most out of Auto-Rx®, we recommend the following easy, step-by-step method of use for your automatic transmission:

STEP 1 Check the transmission fluid level. If it is at or below the full mark, there is space available to add Auto-Rx®. If the level is overfilled, it should be returned to the proper level before continuing.
STEP 2 Add approximately 6 ounces of Auto-Rx® regardless of the fluid capacity. (For metric measurements, use 138 mL.) Each bottle of Auto-Rx® contains 12 fluid ounces.
STEP 3 Drive approximately 5 miles to circulate and evenly disperse the Auto-Rx® in the transmission fluid.
STEP 4 Check the fluid level again. Add transmission fluid if the level is below the full mark.
STEP 5 For vehicles operating under normal driving conditions, drive the vehicle normally for 1,000 miles (or 3,000 miles if under harsh conditions explained here).
STEP 6 Empty the transmission fluid and replace with fresh fluid approved for your transmission.
STEP 7 Change the filter at this time if your transmission is so equipped. This removes the liquefied contaminants off the valve bodies and the torque convertor.
SPECIAL NOTE: In most cars, the transmission filter resembles a bug screen designed to stop large particles of contaminants. In fact, many imports do not have transmission filters at all. Too often, the transmission filter is confused in its performance with that of an oil filter. In most cases it is not necessary to change the transmission screen when performing a T-Tech service. The real value of T-Tech is that your transmission now has 100% brand new fluid with high levels of viscosity to help your vehicle shift and run smoother. However, if you want to change the transmission filter when performing a T-Tech service, it's no problem. We suggest what is best for your car. You make the call!
STEP 8 Congratulations! Your cleaning application is done.

Manual Transmissions
To get the most out of Auto-Rx®, we recommend the following method of use. The application will last for the life of your manual transmission:

STEP 1 Add 1 ounce of Auto-Rx® per quart of oil.
STEP 2 Drive 1,000 miles for vehicles driven routinely in high mileage situations, or 3,000 miles for vehicles in harsh conditions, such as dry and dusty with extreme heat.
STEP 3 Drain the Auto-Rx® and oil. Refill according to vehicle manufacturer's recommendation.
